Back To School For Girls

Awareness campaigns were conducted against child labour and to sensitize communities on child rights. The field assistant took special care on ensuring regular attendance of children in schools. She also visits the anganwadis(creshes) to see the functioning levels. Awareness was generated so that the members of self help groups see that all children are enrolled in and attend the school regularly.

Campaign on child rights: After our initiative in Chandampet Mandal certain measures took to protect safe childhood of children. Child rights protection committee meeting was held at Sundaraiah Vignana Kendram, Rural Development minister Mr.D.Srinivas as chief guest and Human Rights Commission chairman Mr.Subhashan Reddy attended this meeting. The children from Gramya bridge school were participated in this meeting.

Campaign on girl child education

This has been addressed through regular village visits by our staff, and series of discussions in the monthly review meetings with sangha women. Finding out drop outs of girl children and to see them going to schools regularly is ongoing work carried out by us.

In some hamlets like Nakkalagandi Thanda, Jagna Thanda and Ramu Thanda there were no schools and anganwadis. In some villages like Usmankunta, anganwadis are not functioning well. Our field staff met ICDS project officer at Chandampet Mandal Office regarding this. The response was that they are going to up scale anganwadis in all thandas in the coming months.

We need innovative strategies to strengthen groups for facilitating various issues at village, Mandal and district level as well.

Rehabilitation at Mothiya thanda regarding housing they approached MRO he said he will send RI (officer) to Thanda for investigation.
