Ramavath Dowli is married to Chandar. Dowli has four sisters. At the time of marriage, no dowry was given to Chandar. Chandar s/o Ramulu and Kamili belongs to Jetya Thanda. After marriage, the couple lived independently. Chandar brother is studying and staying with parents. His parents own a house and half acre of agriculture land. Dowli and Chandar earn through daily wage work. Dowli lost a daughter during child birth. Now she has five daughters, Anusha (10 y), Lalitha (8 y), Parvathi (6 y), Chandi (5 y), Nikitha (3 y). Anusha and Lalitha study and stay in Mudigonda hostel and the remaining three stay at the home. On 14/08/09, Friday, Dowli gave birth to another daughter. The couple were trying for a son. Chandar is planning to marry second time to get a son. Dowli did not want to plan her family since she wants a son. She does not belong to any SHG in her village. She is unable to look after her six daughters and so decided to drop her younger daughter in Devarkonda Government Hospital cradle on 16/08/09. Chandampet Mandal Samakya member gave information to Gramya regarding the case. Prameela, on behalf of Gramya dealt with the situation. She talked to Dowli and advised her to join two of her children in Gramya residential school. Gramya also agreed to and started supporting the family with food aid, consisting of rice, dal and oil as supplementary nutrition. Dowli took back her daughter from the cradle and is looking after the baby lovingly. Milk was provided to baby as Dowli is unable to feed her. Dowli is interested in undergoing Tubectomy.
